Disclaimer:
The Inca Trail is 45 km (27 mi) long and often steep. Adequate preparation and training is recommended. Each day's journey generally consists of seven hours of walking, with stops for snacks and lunch. Porters are provided on this trek, so during the day, we will only need to carry a daypack.

Overnight in Cusco
Today is your first full day in Cusco. Get ready to discover this historical and cultural hotspot with your fellow travelers.

You’ll visit the Qoricancha temple, considered the most sacred Incan building. Then, you’ll head to the heart of the city, the ‘Plaza de Armas’. Here, you’ll appreciate the facade of the beautiful Cathedral of Cusco, built in the 16th century. Finally, you’re off to the picturesque neighborhood of San Blas. In the afternoon, you’ll be driven by private transport to Tambomachay, an archaeological site just outside of Cusco. From here you’ll take a short downhill walk back to Cusco. On the way, you’ll observe the façade of the archaeological sites, including Puka Pukara, Qenqo and Sacsaywaman.
Overnight in Cusco
You'll say goodbye to Cusco for now and head into the Sacred Valley. After a day of exploring, you'll make it to Ollantaytambo where you'll spend the night before your big trek!

Visit the Pisac Ruins to learn more about Inca culture. You can see great stonework and impressive agricultural terraces all over the place. Make sure to bring your camera, the viewpoints up here are surrounded by 360 degrees of mountains.
Head over to the Amaru community where you'll learn about Peruvian traditional textiles. The women of the community will teach you about the weaving process, dyeing, management, and production of traditional textiles.

Overnight in Ollantaytambo
This morning, you will begin your journey on the Inca Trail by travelling from Ollantaytambo heading to Kilometer 82, where your trek begins!

Begin the trek with a fairly leisurely hike and enjoy stunning views of snow-capped Veronica Peak. Following the river, you will pass a tiny village and continue on to your camp at Wayllabamba. Porters are provided on this trek, so during the day, you will only need to carry a daypack with your personal items. This needs to be big enough to carry such items as water, camera and a warm jacket. Overnight in Chillca
Today is the most difficult part of the trek as you climb to Warminwanusca also known as "Dead Woman’s Pass" at 4200 m (13,779 ft).

You will trek through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery to be seen anywhere in the Andes. This is the first and highest of three Andean passes on the Inca Trail, with breathtaking views over the snow-capped Vilcanota and Vilcabamba mountain ranges. Ahead of you, you will see the ruins of Runkuracay and in the valley below, Rio Pacamayo (Sunrise River). Here, the trail changes from dirt to steps and stone pathways, your route will take you through a landscape dotted with rural villages, grazing llamas, and well-preserved remnants of the Incan culture. Although it's not too arduous, you will still need to make a steep descent to the valley below, where you will camp beneath the cliff tops at Pacamayo overlooking the cloud forest. Overnight in Pacaymayo
Get ready for the third day of the Inca trail!

Today you will hike up to the ruins of Runkurakay. Pushing on up the Inca staircase and beside two small mountain lakes, you will be rewarded at the summit of your second pass with spectacular views of Pumasillo and the entire snow-capped Vilcabamba range. From here, it will be a steep descent and then ascent to your third pass and the ruins of Phullupatamarca, where you'll embark on a long descent into a beautiful orchid-filled cloud forest. The scenery will blow you away! Butterflies flutter across the trail and the air is pure and clean as you head to breathtaking Winaywayna. Total distance: ~10 mi / Estimated duration: 8 hrs / Difficulty: Moderate / Starting altitude: 11,480 ft / Maximum altitude: 12,792 ft / Campsite altitude: 8,692 ft

Overnight in Winaywayna
Today is your last day of trekking, and you know what that means, arriving at the breathtaking Machu Picchu! In the afternoon, you’ll take the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by the train back to Cusco. Prepare for a delicious dinner with your new adventure buddies!

The day starts before dawn with a delicious breakfast at camp. You'll make your way to the Sun Gate for about 2 hours. Here, you'll enjoy your first views of Machu Picchu! On a clear morning, the view from the Sun Gate can be quite stunning and creates a lasting impression that will stay with you long after you return home. All good things must come to an end! You'll transfer to the airport and bid farewell for now.
