Mirador de Los Cóndores y Águilas Hike
The Mirador de Los Cóndores y Águilas (the Condor and Eagle viewpoints) trails are used for hiking, nature trips and bird watching. As the name suggests, the viewpoint is perfect for observing condors as they fly between the valleys of the De Las Vueltas and Fitz Roy rivers. Walk to the trailhead right from your hotel and enjoy views of this charming town. Duration: 2-3 hours / Difficulty: Easy / Length: 3-4 miles. Please note: All hikes are subject to change due to weather.

Rise and shine and prepare for a big day of hiking! Today you will set out on the Laguna de Los Tres - the highlight of El Chaltén.

Laguna de Los Tres Hike
This hike will take you across the Del Salto Stream and its icy blue water, where the surrounding orange rocks create a picturesque foreground to Mount Fitz Roy. The trail finishes at the ridge of the rocky De Los Tres Glacier - an enormous natural arch containing the clear blue water of the lagoon with magnificent views of De Los Tres glacier. This is the closest and most extraordinary view of the granite wall of Mount Fitz Roy and surrounding peaks. Distance: 16 miles / Duration: 8-9 hours / Difficulty: Moderate-difficult / Elevation Gain: 2,300 feet. Please note: All hikes are subject to change due to weather.

Kayaking at Lago del Desierto (Optional)
This full day option is ideal for those who want to enjoy the experience of kayaking around the lake and taking in everything that surrounds it. Begin the excursion with the transfer to the Lago del Desierto and from there, paddle towards Bahía Tranquila with great views of the Huemul and Vespignani glaciers . At Bahía Tranquila there is a beautiful bay surrounded by forest and a beach totally protected from the wind, the water is crystal clear and shallow. This tour can be replaced by a rafting activity.

The Loma del Pliegue Tumbado is a chain of three round rocky summits at 1340m, 1420m and 1550m. This hike offers you the most impressive views of the entire El Chaltén area. From the summit, you can see Cerro Torre and Fitzroy and their glaciers to the north, as well as the impressive Rio Tunel Valley to the south.

Loma del Pliegue Tumbado Hike
Instead of heading into the valley, this trail rises above it. It can get windy on this trail, but the unobstructed views of Fitz Roy, Lago Viedma and the Patagonian desert will make it all worthwhile. Duration: 7-9 hours / Difficulty: Moderate-difficult / Length: 13-14 miles / Elevation Change: 3,610 feet. Please note: All hikes are subject to change due to weather.

Ice Trekking & Vía Ferrata Glacier Cagliero (Optional)
Head to the Los Huemules Reserve where today’s trek will take you through Lenga Forest and along the valley basin of the Diablo River Valley. At Diablo Lake you'll suit up for the real adventure! With all the appropriate safety gear and training, you'll climb, slide and crawl the Via Ferrata to Glacier Cagliero. Then, strap on those crampons and begin the ice trek! Spend some time exploring the icy wonderland, before retracing your steps. This will be a long and absolutely unforgettable day!

For the final hike here in El Chaltén, you'll close out the trip with a relaxing hike to Torre viewpoint.

HD Cerro Torre viewpoint Hike
The trek starts with a 10 minute uphill climb in order to leave the valley that El Chaltén is located in. The walk takes you through a lovely lenga forest and affords views of the Fitzroy river canyon running alongside. While walking don’t forget to look overhead, there may be a condor searching for its next feed! After some more gentle climbing, you arrive at the Torre viewpoint. From here you can enjoy the views of the whole Torre Valley and its various terminal moraines from different ice ages, in the foreground. In the distance you will be able to admire the granite towers of Torre and Fitz Roy and all their satellite mountains. You will have time to sit here, enjoy the view and listen to some climbing tales that the guide will be able to share with you. Afterwards you will head back along the same path to El Chaltén – this time looking towards the steppe and other mountains! Duration: Approx. 4 hours / Difficulty: Moderate Please note: All hikes are subject to change due to weather.
