Enjoy a leisurely morning and later, explore the heart and cultural center of New Orleans, the French Quarter. Included with this tour is brunch at the Court of Two Sisters, famous for its Creole and Cajun cuisine and opulent decor. In 1886 this French style townhouse was purchased by Bertha Angaud and Emma Camors, who converted it into “The Shop of the Two Sisters”, a fine clothing and accessories establishment. The rest of your day is free to explore! Consider adding one of the many activities in or around town.

French Quarter Walking Tour

Meet up with a local guide who will provide a brief history on the culture of this vibrant neighborhood. Your 30 minute walk will start from the hotel, so opt for comfy shoes! The high energy French Quarter is a must-see, with its rich and diverse architecture, lively music and nightlife, colorful street performers, renowned jazz clubs and the finest art galleries and restaurants in the city. Your walking tour ends at the historical Court of Two Sisters restaurant for their famous Jazz Brunch.

Treme Walking tour and Lunch

Exploring the major landmarks and locales of this historical neighborhood, you’ll visit Storyville, the old red-light district from 1897-1917, whose music rooms were home to many famous Jazz musicians including a young Louis Armstrong. Congo Square, where in the late 18th Century, slaves would gather on a Sunday afternoon, bring their own drums and musical instruments and celebrate their roots with traditional African music and dance. Congo Square is now within Louis Armstrong park. These two areas were considered to be the birthplace of jazz. Finish the tour with lunch at the world-renowned Dooky Chase’s Restaurant. Opened in 1941, Dooky Chase’s Restaurant instantly became the most popular meeting place for musicians and various entertainment and cultural events. Try one of their famous Pimms Cups, a refreshing, low-proof drink which is a New Orleans favorite during the hot summer months.

Walking tour of the Garden District's Historic Homes and Lafayette Cemetery

You'll start with lunch at the Commander's Palace, nestled in the middle of the tree-lined Garden District. Known for the award-winning quality of its food and lively atmosphere, the history of this famous restaurant offers a glimpse into New Orleans' storied past and has been the go-to destination for Haute Creole cuisine. After a sumptuous meal, your local guide will take you on a historic walking tour of New Orleans’ Garden District. Learn more about the city and its unique above-ground crypts and gravesites in the Lafayette Cemetery.

New Orleans School of Cooking: Demonstration

Sit back and watch professional chefs cook a classic Creole and Cajun meal. The dinner and lunch shows are sprinkled with the history and recipe tools of the trade. Your experience is available with 5 different classic items for demonstration and of course, sampling.

New Orleans School of Cooking: Hands on Cooking Class

This hands on cooking class includes a four-course meal to prepare and enjoy with your personal chef instructor. Expect 2 hours of hands-on preparation and 1 hour for eating.

Museum of Southern Food and Beverages Tour: Cooking Demonstration and Instruction

Take a streetcar with your guide, to the Southern Food and Beverage Museum and experience a self-guided tour of the Museum's permeate collection. Later, you'll work together to create either a traditional Creole menu, or a Cajun menu based on the group’s preference.

The French Quarter is famous for its bars and restaurants. Discover the famous "spirits" of New Orleans, history… with a twist! From the Sazerac and Pimm’s Cup to the Ramos Gin Fizz and Absinthe - enjoy the original craft cocktails.

Liquor Tour and Taste

Enjoy three local specialties: New Orleans Beer, Sazerac (New Orleans’ own brand of Rye Whiskey) and New Orleans Gin and Rum, along with some hearty pizza to enhance the flavors. NOLA Brewing Company, along with their sister Pizza Company are keeping the spirit of locally crafted food a special experience. Enjoy a tasting at the Seven Three distillery, named for the seventy three districts of New Orleans. Sample some of their locally created gin, vodka and yes, moonshine, all in the celebration of a city famous for cocktails. Finally, learn about one of the oldest NOLA liquor brands, Sazerac Rye Whiskey, and the New Orleans special cocktail it made famous. Tour the three story Sazerac House to understand the history before your private tasting, paired with some savory snacks. Your 7 hour tour includes tastings and tours (Pending Covid reopenings), to see how the magic is made. (Available Wednesday-Friday, limited to a max size of 18 people post-Covid. Swamp and Bayou Pontoon Adventure

After a short motorcoach ride across the Mississippi River, take a fascinating boat trip into the Louisiana swamps and bayous to get up close to some southern gators…in gator country! Native guides will reveal the mysteries of the swamps and bayous and the Cajun “joie de vivre.” Observe the nesting grounds of alligators, egrets, raccoons, nutria, and many species of snakes. Bring your camera to capture the “bon temps” (good times) on the bayou!

Whitney Plantation Educational Tour

You’ll stop at a traditional Cajun Seafood joint just outside of town for a traditional, Cajun broil and later, travel on to the Whitney plantation. The Whitney Plantation is a museum showing the history of slavery in Louisiana, from the perspective of the slaves living on the sugar, rice and indigo plantations in 1752. The curator will lead you through memorials honoring over 100,000 people held in slavery and show you the restored old buildings such as cabins and outbuildings, as well as an owner’s house built in 1790. All of this shedding light on the trauma that generations of enslaved people endured. This became an important part of American history.

Airboat Swamp Adventure

Take this smaller airboat swamp adventure tour through the wetlands surrounding the town of Jean Lafitte! The swamps and bayous of Louisiana are only accessible by airboat. The captain, a native of the area, offers a history of the Cajun way of life in between quick water and land skimming bursts and alligator sightings.
